Worship and Music

Contemporary Service – 9:30 a.m.

Language and structure in this service are designed to be inclusive, and to offer a worship setting that is comfortable both to younger people and to those who may be new to Christian worship. The emphasis in is on celebration.

A versatile group of musicians provide music to enhance the spiritual message with upbeat, celebratory songs from an eclectic variety of genres – pop, rock, R&B, jazz, Latin, gospel and more – both sacred and secular. The congregation sings along with the band on the opening and closing songs, following words projected on the wall. The band also performs a solo number during the service which connects to the worship theme of the day.

The contemporary musicians include well-known local artists Nancy Phillips (vocals), Dave Phillips (bass, vocals), Tony Burciaga (guitar, vocals), Jenn Schaff (drums), and frequent special guests; they are accompanied by world-renowed pianist Weber Iago.

Traditional Service -11:00 a.m.

This service provides a structure and liturgical form designed to be comfortable and familiar to those who were raised in the church. The emphasis is on reverence.

The music of the Traditional Service features the Community Church choir, accompanied by organ and piano, classical sacred music and hymns from The New Century Hymnal. Our choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. New members are always welcome! No experience necessary.
