Youth Ministry

4th & 5th- Graders:

Middle School: Wednesday afternoons 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Children’s classroom.

Our Middle School Fellowship is all about puppets!

Led by experienced puppeteer Jean Moritz, young people are trained in the art of making as well as operating puppets. Most of our puppets are “hand and rod” puppets, the style made famous by the Muppets. The puppeteer uses his or her hand to move the puppet's mouth while rods attached to the puppet's hands animate the arms.

But we don’t just construct and learn to operate puppets – this is a real ministry! We go to schools, convalescent hospitals and churches to raise awareness about differing abilities and different faiths. Some of our puppets are in wheelchairs; some have artificial limbs; some are Down’s Syndrome children and some have walkers. They are of every color and nationality. Some are Jewish, others Christian and some are Muslim.

We don’t “preach” or proselytize, except to encourage peace, understanding and acceptance among all people.

Senior High: Sunday evenings 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in Woodhull Hall

The core of our Senior High Fellowship is an annual Mission Trip, usually outside the United States.

Our Senior High adult sponsors, ______________, ________________, and __________ work with senior highs to prepare for a multicultural experience of serving others.

Opportunities for service:

Project #1
Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza. Puerto Vallarta.

The Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza (Children's Shelter of Hope), is a NON-PROFIT shelter for infants and children under the age of 14 who have been turned over to the orphanage by the Meixcan government organization that is the legal representative for minors under the age of 14. The shelter gives these children a safe and loving place to live because they have no other choice in their lives. We will spend four days working under the direction of the project director while taking plenty of time to play games with the children, who will be out of school during the time we are there.

Project #2
La Escuela Secondaria. Yelapa.

In this remote fishing village 45 minutes by boat from Puerto Vallarta we will be providing much-needed assistance to the Secondary School, La Escuela Secondaria. The school, which has approximately 100 middle school age students, does not have adequate equipment or supplies, are there are many needed repairs. We expect to be working in these or other area, under the guidance and discretion of the school.
