DeafBikeSigns was an inspiration that came from my experience of crashing into another cyclist. Why? I am Deaf and other cyclists always assume I am not. I am never able to catch the verbal warnings and messages being called out that I am expected to respond to. So I thought of an easy solution that works for both Deaf and Hearing cyclists. DeafBikeSigns then was created as an effective way to inform other cyclists of our deafness; it immediately alerts others of the risk that we don't know they are there.

The Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula is located in Carmel,
California. While in the process of calling a new pastor it became
important to them to update their website. They wanted to strengthen
the content and update the visuals to attract more visitors to their
church. I worked with the Church Committee and Interim Pastor to create
a new site that features updated content and gives the webpage a new
clean design.

In February of 2007, a new all-women's dragon boat team, A
Shui Life, was established by two Deaf women in Portland. As
one of the founders, I am passionate for the dragon boat sport
and wanted to use the activity to provide a vehicle for their vision of
growth and unity among the Deaf and Hearing communities. In helping A
Shui Life grow, it was no question for me to design and code
a simple website for the team to get more recognized.

E-File Magic, located in Oregon, is an innovator in e-file for the
business community. They provide software and services for e-filing,
printing and mailing a multitude of IRS business forms. I worked with
E-File Magic to improve their website by making it easier for their
customers to access their newly developed software and services. Just
as with The Drama Learning Center, I was asked to create the basic
layout design with codings of XHTML and CSS. E-File Magic implemented
all the content information.

The Drama Learning Center (DLC), based in Maryland, provides a variety
of programs for people of all ages and interests in drama. They provide
opportunities for participants to have fun as they learn and improve
drama skills, perform on the musical stage and work as a theatrical
team. I was asked to create/design a brand new type of "feeling
website" that would attract more people to drama and help them succeed.
With their newly developed layout, DLC is now working on adding new
content information and images to the site. Their work is still in
process.

Chestnut Lane is an assisted living home community for Deaf and
Deaf-Blind residents that provides personal services and assisted care
to support their independence and privacy. I became involved working
with Chestnut Lane's Director and Activity Director in re-developing
and re-designing their web-site. I produced a much simpler and cleaner
site to make it easier for their residents to browse through. I also
included adjustment font size ability on the web-site, since some
residents have a difficult time reading small text on screen and print.

Greensoda Productions is an independent company that produces film and
theatre about Deaf people and Deaf culture. There are two films that
are currently in progress, a commentary film, Soda Stories,
about what it is like to have a Deaf sibling; and a documentary, Austin
Unbound, about the life of a Deaf transgender. Fascinated by
these projects, I was motivated to re-design and re-develop the
web-site to give it a more original layout with education about the
films being produced. Greensoda Productions’ aim is to educate those
who are curious about their films. The web-site encourages viewers to
assist Greensoda Productions with funds to complete the films and get
them released. In addition to the web-site, I also helped the director
with small plural multimedia projects, and have been involved with
interviews for funding.

Travel Connection was a travel company that provideed air-inclusive and
land only vacation packages to clients, and to travel agents for resale
to their clients. I was hired primarily to re-design and re-develop
Travel Connection’s web-site. Using XHTML and CSS, I was responsible
for the web-site except for the programming and database work. I was
also involved in re-designing and merging database from the company
into Washington/Northern Idaho’s AAA site—their parent company.
